Evangelical Academy (resp. Protestant Academy) is the name under which the Evangelical Church of Czech Brethren summarises its educational activities. It was founded in 1990, immediately after private schools were once again permitted. Today, the Evangelical Academy comprises a vocational school, a conservatory, secondary schools offering university entrance qualifications, primary schools and a nursery school in various towns across the country. Teaching is based on a curriculum approved by the Czech Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport and places great emphasis on ethical values in life. Through the schools of the Protestant Academy, the ECCB assumes responsibility in society. This is also reflected in the fact that the schools are particularly open to the integration of pupils with special needs.
A characteristic feature of the Protestant Academy's schools is that Christian values, as well as a concrete engagement with Christianity, faith and the Bible, are central components of subjects such as social studies and philosophy, which is unusual in state schools. In addition, each of the schools has a school chaplain, a minister who is responsible for pastoral care at the school and organises other activities. At the beginning and end of the school year, as well as on important holidays, school services are held at the EA schools, which is a unique feature of church schools in Czechia.
